Youíve never sold a thing in your life or talked in front of an audience. Thoughts are beginning to creep into your head, questioning how can you succeed in direct sales?

First, there are prerequisites required before you can move into the success bubble. You canít join a direct selling company and begin selling successfully and confidently. There are a few tips that every new direct seller should know before getting started.

Do you know your product?

How can you sell a product confidently if you donít know everything there is to know about it? Do you just memorize some of the features and benefits of the top selling product or do you know your product well enough where you sound like an expert? Most people who sign up to become direct sellers are ready to hold their first party or promote their products without having the required knowledge to be able to sell them. It is important to know your product before you try to sell it to your customer.

Do you know your market?

There are different groups of people you can sell to, but all are not going to use the same products for the same reasons. You have college students, stay at home mothers, business people, young and old, and more. A product that works well with one person might now be the appropriate one for another. Study your market, learn their needs, the locations, age median, and quickly you will be able to identify the right products for the right people.

Do you know how to solve problems?

A customer has a problem and is looking to you for a solution. That can be very important when you are a direct seller. The customer is not going to call the companyís home office to get help; they are going to call you. If you donít know how to solve a customerís problem, especially if you are not going to make any money, how do you think your customer will feel?

Do you know your customers?

When you know your customerís likes, dislikes, and habits, you can rapidly offer a product that is a perfect match for them. How can your product be the best solution to their situation? It might be tempting to show your customers all the cool products you have, but you should focus on one or two. As a child, if you give a child the opportunity to choose between five items, it will take a while for them to make a decision. If you give them just two, the choice is either one or the other and the decision will be easier to make.

Do you know how to sell?

Not everyone who joins a direct selling company knows how to sell. I recommend working with someone already in your team to learn some basics rules of selling. Then I would invest in some professional training from real experts.

Those are just a few tips from me. Do you have any? Why not share them for your fellow direct sellers out there.
